Neuanfang (New Start) was conceived as the opening exhibition for Dengler and Dengler, Gallery for Fine Arts in Stuttgart. To mirror the situation of the starting gallery, videointerviews were conducted with people, who were experiencing an either actively initiated or forced new start in their lives. A change of gender, trying to relearn basic skills after a brain injury, leaving a family to live single again, becoming a mother and a shift from business man to spiritual healer were among the radical new starts that the interviewees were dealing with.

These interviews were interacting with a light installation. It covered the two central columns of the gallery with hundreds of lightbulbs that were continuously dimmed from a minimal glow to 100% in a breathing rythm.  Once in a while, this breathing light stopped, only one bulb was staying on and accompanied a video sequence with one of the interviewees, giving focus to their story.
